PRESS RELEASE Athena Design, Inc. Invites Beta Testers for Integer[tm]: The Integral Spreadsheet Component for Java[tm] Boston, San Francisco - September 30, 1997 - Athena Design invites all Java developers to beta test Integer[tm] - The integral spreadsheet for Java[tm]. Integer offers spreadsheet functionality to corporate developers who need unparalleled power in a Java[tm] component. Java developers interested in beta testing Integer can sign up for full-featured evaluation versions at www.athena.com. Integer accepts real time data feeds from a variety of sources including WebLogic's T3 Java Server and CSK Software's Slingshot[tm] Real-Time Publishing System. Integer is also tightly integrated with Visualize, Inc.'s real time charting and data visualization package, DataVista. "Integer represents the most advanced, most powerful, easiest to use Java spreadsheet component and is backed by a company that's been delivering spreadsheet objects on advanced platforms for the last five years," said David Pollak, President of Athena Design. "We're excited about the response we've had from our early access users." "The combination of Athena Design's Integer spreadsheet and Slingshot enables developers to re-engineer the trading room: to build real-time Financial Applications using the Web paradigm, yet leveraging their existing investment in technology." says Niall O'Cleirigh, Chief Technical Architect of Slingshot. "These two products together will help accelerate the move to Intranet Solutions in the Trading Room environment." Integer's unique distributed architecture allows building collaborative applications and supports thin clients. Integer is a JavaBean[tm] that will easily integrate into custom applications to provide robust spreadsheet functionality. Integer has the power of leading desktop spreadsheets and imports and exports legacy Excel® and 1-2-3® worksheets. Integer's built-in JDBC database access makes retrieving enterprise data a snap. "Visualize is pleased to be providing a charting and data visualization solution for Athena Design's Integer spreadsheet component," said Neal Bangerter, President of Visualize. "Athena Design has an impressive history of delivering solid and functional spreadsheet components. Integer coupled with our DataVista technology is a powerful introduction in the Java component market." Please sign up for beta testing and download the latest version at http://www.athena.com beginning September 30th. Beta testers should have a working knowledge of spreadsheets and JavaBeans, have Java 1.1 or above and be willing to provide feedback and bug reports over the next two months. Integer implements the JavaBean object standard and integrates with a variety of Java IDE and RAD tools including Sun's Java Studio, SuperCede, SilverStream, Penumbra's SuperMojo, JBuilder, Visual Cafe, and others.
